Phoenix or Bust!

The girls & I are in Phoenix, AZ, visiting CarCar & Spencer. We made it! Yesterday was the "day of the drive." JoJo left her DC at my house Wednesday night. I was able to pack the girls and their things, pick Dad up, and head to Springville to meet the Chrisman's. I was 1/2 hour late getting Dad, and after packing up the Chrisman's and figuring out seating arrangements, we were about an hour behind our desired schedule of leaving at 6am. Jed drove one car, and Dad drove the other. Carly & Spencer were going to have 10 people at their house in a little less than 10 hours!!

We finally got to Phoenix at 6:45 pm (MST), unloaded the kids and the car and had supper with CarCar. She had fixed the kidlets Mac'n'cheese and had sloppy joes for the adults. Everyone was so happy to be out of their car seats and happy to see Car. Car and Reese went to get Spencer from school, and Rebecca was waiting for him at the door. When he came in she said, "Spen-er" and coyly walked over to him. Spencer was worried that the kids wouldn't remember him, but boy did they prove him wrong! Everyone was hanging on him. Spencer ate some supper and then had to return to school for studying. Carly says he's at school from 5 am to 7 pm, comes home for supper, then goes back until around 10 pm for more studying. 18 hour days at med school.

Carly & Spencer's house is beautiful!!! They made a trip to Phoenix in May to look for a house and found one that was completely re-done in a fantastic neighborhood. Their 2100 square foot townhouse has tile throughout, except for the 3 bedrooms which have new carpet. The living room is ginormous with a brick fireplace (as if Phoenix gets cold???!), their kitchen has an island/bar and eat-in area with a patio off the side. Their 2 full bathrooms are perfect & so clean. Carly & Spence gave up their master bedroom to the Chrisman's, the girls & I were in the middle bedroom, Dad opted to sleep in the living room, & Car & Spence slept in the 3rd bedroom/office on the futon. They have been wonderful hosts and have made sure all our needs have been met so far. Carly even anticipated what the kids would need and had it ready upon our arrival. She is such a great sister!
