I went to the grocery store with my mom and baby sister, Carly today. I normally dread going grocery shopping, but this time I had fun - Mom had her shopping cart full and so did CarCar, and as we went up and down the isles, I couldn't help but feel like I was in the game show where the contestants have to rush through the store and find the best price on certain items. Corny, I know, but it made me smile.
So, I'm sitll smiling as I'm going through the check-out, and I make small-talk with the checker, Jody. I commented on all the baby food I was buying (seeing it come down the conveyor belt in stacks made my stomach sink) and Jody said her daughter had just potty-trained her boy. Wow - think of all the moolah they're saving in diapers! I rejoiced at that thought, but lamented that that would be at least 1 year away as my twins were only 9 months old. (They're really 12 months old as you all know, but to strangers - they get the adjusted age, or "Reader's Digest" version as Tony calls it). So, Jody finished checking me out - a whopping $171 worth, and proceeded to scan Mom's groceries.
I'm standing by the Bagger, and completely out of Mom & Jody's conversation, when Jody turns to me and asks, "So when is your baby due?"
WHAT THE....? I'm NOT smiling anymore...
